The frequency listing is intended as a means of tracing name headings according to how often they occur in BNB records created between 1996 and April 2003:
- Headings are listed starting with those that occur most often.
- An item number has been assigned to each heading.
- The arrow --> indicates when a BNB heading is different to its NACO equivalent (shown in the alphabetical sequence) and is therefore a candidate for amendment.
- The number of records in which a heading occurs is shown in brackets.
- Headings that occur in the same number of records are arranged alphabetically and item numbers assigned accordingly.
- Headings are presented in sequences of one hundred.
The extent to which BNB headings are represented in users' catalogues will depend on record selection so that they may be less frequent than indicated here.
