Association of Community Based Business Advice, ACBBA

ACBBA

ACBBA is an association representing community groups delivering business support services. Our mission is to create an infrastructure of support at community level capable of promoting entrepreneurial solutions among people facing disadvantage, particularly among BAME communities. Business Advisers working within community groups are at the centre of our approach. They are part of the communities they serve and have the skills to diagnose clients’ needs, assess proposals and support clients create new and grow existing businesses.

Developing staff based in community organisations as professional business advisers is ACBBA’s key priority. We do this through a comprehensive package involving business training, mentoring by experienced business advisers, on-the-job learning opportunities and SFEDI accreditation. Through networking activities community-based business advisers meet up with colleagues working for other business support agencies at local and regional levels, including finance providers, enterprise agencies, private sector consultants and regeneration officers. This personal knowledge of mainstream providers ensures community-based business advisers can more effectively broker the services of other specialists. Their work is fully integrated with local provision and their clients can access a wider range of support.
