We’re passionate about making sure everyone working at the Library has the chance to grow. We want our people to enhance their knowledge, their prospects, and their own personal development. It’s about everyone enjoying their work, and having the skills they need to give their customers a constantly improving service.

As soon as you join, we’ll give you an induction that will help you settle into your team and give you a feel for what your role will involve. We hope it will leave you feeling inspired and excited about the contribution you can make.

At the heart of our training strategy lies our Performance Management Process. Through it, we can give you clear objectives that make sure everything you do is working towards the Library’s goals. It also enables us to help you pinpoint your training needs and plan your career progress.

The training you’ll receive will be very wide ranging, from an IT course to help you to get to grips with new software to training specific to your role and responsibilities. We even have a personal development scheme which allows you to study non-job-related subjects, from languages to crafts.
