Locations

We have two main sites.

St Pancras

The public face of the Library is in St Pancras in the King's Cross area of London, in a stunning marble and brick building designed by Sir Colin St John Wilson.

This building houses seven reading rooms spanning all research disciplines.

It is also home to the Sir John Ritblat Gallery which contains such treasures as Magna Carta, the Lindisfarne Gospels, Shakespeare’s First Folio and Leonardo da Vinci’s Notebook and the Pearson Gallery, which hosts two major exhibitions a year. Recent exhibitions include “London: A Life in Maps” and “Sacred: Discover what we share”.

Boston Spa

We also have an extensive site in Boston Spa, near Wetherby in the West Yorkshire countryside, conveniently situated between York and Leeds.

Boston Spa is a purpose built site which includes a vast robot-enabled storage facility. It also has a Reading Room where any of the seven million items in the Documents Supply collections can be consulted.

Other locations

Finally, we have a number of smaller sites in London, the largest of which is in Colindale, north London, and houses the national newspaper collection.
