Our diversity
We believe that the knowledge stored in our collections belongs to everyone. So we’re passionate about developing a diverse workforce that can help us ensure our services are enriching the lives of people from every walk of life. From gaining an award for our work to promote diversity in the Library, to acquiring the Two Tick symbol for our positive steps to recruit those with disabilities, we’ve proved this commitment.
We aim to be an inclusive organisation that values difference and the benefits it brings. An organisation where we develop and harness the range of talents our people have. That’s why we are always looking to encourage diversity in our workforce.
However, we’re continually working to achieve more. The cornerstone of our work on Diversity is involvement. We consult extensively with staff, customers and, most importantly, diverse groups themselves to deliver these improvements. From our Disability Action Working Group and internal communication programme about age discrimination, to our initiatives to develop focus groups to drive forward gender and race equality, we’re always looking to encourage diversity in our workforce.
Our Services aren’t the same and neither are our people.
