Operations and Services
In essence, we are responsible for the day-to-day running of the Library. In the last year, we provided services to almost half a million readers with a recent survey showing high levels of satisfaction. In addition, we supplied over 2.3 million paper and electronic copies of items all over the world and set up a Business and Intellectual Property Centre for budding entrepreneurs and inventors. The 1000 people within our department are justly proud of their achievements.
Right now, we are working to help preserve the world’s greatest newspaper collection at Colindale. We are also developing tools to make sure our customers can access our catalogues in a more efficient way. We hold the world’s knowledge – and we want to make sure that more and more people have access to it.
The British Library is an inspiring place to work. We are developing some of the most advanced technological solutions in the information sector and help to take care of one of the greatest collections of books, journals, newspapers and recordings in the world. We have a whole host of roles across London and Yorkshire, for those who want to help take one of the UK’s most important organisations into the 21st century.
