Celebrating 10 years at the British Library
As part of a series of events to mark the 10th anniversary of the British Library at St Pancras, we are providing a platform for ten local children, who were also born in 1998, to raise issues surrounding their rights and responsibilities in Britain today. We are inviting local schools to enter a competition in which they can put forward questions to the Prime Minister about issues affecting them today. Two students from each selected school will then have an opportunity to put their question to the Prime Minister.
Continuing this theme, the British Library will open an exhibition on Wednesday 29 October 2008 at 18:00, Taking Liberties: The Struggle for Britain's Freedoms and Rights, to which the winners will be invited.
Competition
To enter the competition, the children must think of two questions that they would like to ask Gordon Brown. Questions can be about the country and how it is run, global issues, or thoughts that concern them in everyday life. The competition is for Year 5 children attending schools in Barnet, Camden, Haringey, Islington, Westminster and Tower Hamlets only.
How to enter
Entries should include: school name, school address and London borough, teacher’s name, telephone number, e-mail address and two questions. Please send entries to:
