Standard operating hours
We have staff working to provide you with the best possible service, around the clock, between:
08:00 Monday - 04:30 Saturday (UK time)
every week of the year, except when the Library is closed for a public holiday.
Any orders for 2-hour delivery received after 04.30 on Saturday morning will be timed from 08.00 the following Monday. Orders for 24-hour delivery received on a Friday might be dealt with on the following Monday. In the event of a public holiday, these will be timed from 08.00 on the next working day.
On rare occasions, the 2-hour service may have to be restricted without prior notice for operational or technical reasons.

If you have any questions or a problem with our services, you can speak with a member of our Customer Services staff between 08.30 and 19.00 (UK time), Monday to Friday, except when the Library is closed for a public holiday.

Public holidays closures 2008
- All Document Supply services will be closed Monday 25 August
- The Boston Spa Reading Room will close at 16.30 on Friday 22 August, re-opening at 09.00 on Tuesday 26 August
- We will not process any requests received after 04.30 (UK time) on Saturday 23 August until our document supply service reopens on Tuesday 26 August at 08.00 (UK time). This includes requests for the 2-hour service
- Any 2-hour or 24-hour requests received at the British Library after 04.30 on 23 August will be timed from 08.00 on 25 August
Advance notice for 2008/ 09
Our Document Supply service will be closed on the following dates. We will give more detailed information about how this affects the 2- and 24-hour services nearer the time.
