Theses submitted for doctoral degrees are important sources of primary research information but are not usually published and frequently difficult to find. Full text of more than 170,000 doctoral theses are available, mainly from the 1970s to the present day.
The British Library also offers a limited thesis search service, covering 1980 to date. Find out more by contacting us at dsc-british-thesis-service@bl.uk.
