Reader Registration

Reader registration for information professionals

CILIP members

CILIP members are entitled to a Reader Pass upon proof of membership and proof of identity.

The focus for studies in librarianship is the Humanities Reading Room, where open access material, including a display of the latest Librarianship & Information Science journals can be found.

You can apply for a Reader Pass in person or in advance, by post. Our Reader Registration office is open Monday to Saturday except for seasonal closures. Note that our Reading Rooms opening hours are different to those of our Reader Registration office.

Academic staff

To register for a Reader Pass, academic staff will be required to show two forms of identification, as proof of your identity and address, and one of the following:

  • A faculty/staff card
  • Contract.
  • A letter on headed paper, signed and dated, confirming your status.
