Cloakroom and lockers

Before entering any of the Reading Rooms you must leave outer coats and bags at the cloakroom or in a locker.

Use of the cloakroom is free. You will need a one pound deposit to use a locker. Lockers must be emptied at the end of each day.

You will find the cloakroom and the locker room on the lower ground floor. These can be accessed via a lift, ramp or stairs.

If you have items you wish to carry into the Reading Rooms, clear plastic bags are provided. (A maximum of two per reader, one for papers and one for a laptop). See our conditions of use of Reading Rooms for full details of personal possessions allowed in our Reading Rooms.

If you have a mobility impairment or think you may have difficulty carrying items using a plastic bag, please contact the Disability Support Officer at:
