If you are using certain other browsers, you may not be able to use the dynamic menus at the top of the page. If so, you can navigate the site through the links at the foot of the page or through the site map. This is accessible by selecting the site map icon or any of the primary menu headings.

Linking to the website
We encourage links to our website. When you create links to the home page or other pages on our website, please use our help page on adding links to the British Library website.
Hardware
Any PC or Macintosh hardware should support this website, although it will run better with a faster computer.
Similarly, this website will load more quickly with a fast modem or other internet connection. However, it is designed so that nearly all pages will load within 10 seconds over a 56k connection.
Sound
Sound files on this site can be played using Windows Media Player. The quality will vary depending on your connection speed to the internet. Linux users can play Windows Media (.wma) files with MPlayer. Please note that the quality of the sounds on our website does not necessarily reflect the quality of the original recordings in the British Library.
Adobe PDF
This website includes some PDF (Portable Document Format) files. To access them you must have Adobe Acrobat installed on your computer. Use the links below to download the latest free software and also to find out about the Adobe solutions to the accessibility issues associated with PDF files.
